Enhance Fire Alarm Network Systems with Fiber-Optic Modules

The Honeywell SK-FML (Fiber-Optic Multi-Mode) and SK-FSL (Fiber-Optic Single-Mode) are specialized plug-in fiber loop modules used to establish efficient communication channels in fire alarm systems. These modules seamlessly integrate with the Honeywell Silent Knight SK-NIC (Network Interface Card) ARCNET communication circuit for reliable network connectivity.

The SK-FML module is designed for multimode fiber applications, connecting network nodes using ST-style connectors and supporting a maximum attenuation of 8 dB with 62.5/125 micrometer cable. On the other hand, the SK-FSL module caters to single-mode fiber, featuring LC-style connectors and accommodating a maximum attenuation of 30 dB with 9/125 micrometer cable.

Both fiber modules function as Transmit (TX) or Receive (RX) units when interfacing with the SK-NIC, allowing up to two modules to be integrated into the system configuration. These modules are compliant with ANSI/UL Standard 864, 9th edition, ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Utilize these fiber-optic modules with the SK-NIC to establish a unified communications and annunciation link across a fiber-optic network encompassing up to 17 panels. A designated panel within the network serves as the communication hub, facilitating centralized single-point communications. Alternatively, network connections can be achieved using traditional copper wiring.

The compatible panels within this network include the Silent Knight 6000 Series 6820 and 6820EVS fire alarm control panels (FACPs), capable of providing up to 1,110 addressable points using SK Protocol. Each panel is equipped with a built-in Signaling Line Circuit (SLC), with additional SLCs available to expand capacity to maximum point levels.

To further enhance the connected system, integrate additional modules such as the 6860 remote annunciator, which features a 160-character, 4 x 40 display and four programmable function buttons to streamline operations and increase efficiency at the panel level.
