Overview

The Schlage 8200 Series desk consoles offer comprehensive door access control and security monitoring for up to eight zones. Tailored to address a wide array of security system requirements, the 8200 Series is capable of managing and overseeing electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, electromechanical exit devices, and a variety of other electric locking mechanisms. Additionally, this console serves as an effective tool for surveillance monitoring.

The console’s internal circuit boards are configured for four or eight-zone operations, accommodating both momentary and maintained switch functionalities. Zone-specific pushbuttons enable control and monitoring, while an integrated signaling horn provides an audible alert regarding any status changes indicated by the red lamp. The console’s control can be securely disabled using a security keyswitch.

System Design Guidance

The 8200 Series Console is versatile and can be deployed in numerous settings to monitor and control multiple door points. It is ideal for integration at guard stations or nurse stations. (An illustrative riser diagram detailing a two-door nurse station console is shown below.)

System Operation Description

The setup includes two single doors, each typically closed and secured via a magnetic lock that features a Magnetic Bond Sensor (MBS) for the remote monitoring of secure or not-secure status. Authorized access is managed through a keypad system while egress is facilitated by touch-sensitive exit bars. The slope-front desktop console enables remote control and monitoring. Each of the two stations is equipped with a momentary pushbutton switch for authorized entry release, a red indicator for “not-secure” status, and a green indicator for “secure” status.
