Our pivCLASS Government Solutions allow facilities to enhance their physical access control systems (PACS) to meet FIPS 201/FICAM standards without overhauling the entire system. The RK40 and RPK40 readers are designed to support various applications aimed at achieving full FICAM compliance.
Transitional Reader: This standalone reader reads both legacy iCLASS and HID prox cards, in addition to FIPS 201 cards, transmitting card identifiers directly to the control panel. Keypads allow users to input PINs directly to the PACS panel. When paired with pivCLASS Registration Engine and Certification Manager software, it offers a seamless transition to full FICAM compliance and a cost-effective solution for “uncontrolled” areas where traditional access control is sufficient.
FICAM Compliant Reader: Achieving FICAM compliance involves adding the pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) for robust single-factor authentication.
This configuration supports CHUID + VIS and card authentication key (CAK) modes as detailed in NIST Special Publication 800-116.
For two-factor authentication, integrating the HID pivCLASS contact reader sidecar provides a contact card slot and an LCD for displaying instructions. It supports CHUID + VIS and CAK modes over contactless and contact interfaces, as well as PKI + PIN authentication with match-on-card PIN on the contact interface.
Three-factor authentication is possible by adding the HID pivCLASS contact plus biometric reader sidecar, which includes a biometric sensor alongside the contact card slot. This setup supports CHUID + VIS and CAK modes across all interfaces, with PKI + PIN and PKI + PIN + BIO authentication modes using the contact interface.
