Description
HID Global’s pivCLASS RKCL40 dual interface reader—featuring both contact and contactless capabilities—is specifically designed for deployment in security zones compliant with the FIPS-201 standards for “Controlled” and “Limited” access levels. When integrated with an Authentication Module or an OSDP-compliant strong authentication controller infrastructure, the pivCLASS RKCL40 reader delivers robust authentication. It verifies the legitimacy of the presented card, ensures the integrity of the card data, prevents cloning or duplication, and confirms that the card has not been lost or stolen. In Card Authentication Key (CAK) mode, the reader supports the reading of any PIV-based card with a contactless interface that contains a CAK certificate. When in PIV+PIN mode, it facilitates on-card PIN matching and validates the PIV Authentication Key certificate.
**Key Features:**
– Offers dual interfaces, providing a contact interface as a backup if the contactless antenna of a card is compromised; the CAK certificate can be accessed this way.
– Configurable to function in either Wiegand or strong authentication mode, compatible with Authentication Modules or third-party panels.
– Capable of dynamically switching authentication modes when used in conjunction with an Authentication Module.
– Compatible with legacy card formats, such as iCLASS, iCLASS SE, and standard Prox.
