Description
The VPCS Series of Atlas-Sound provides advanced intercom solutions with exceptional audio clarity for high-security communication systems suitable for both one and two-way contact. This series is specifically engineered for use in correctional facilities, institutional environments, and high-security locations. The intercom systems are equally ideal for deployment in high-risk public areas such as hallways, lobbies, and parking garages, offering reliable performance in challenging conditions including abuse, moisture, corrosion, dust, vibration, and extreme temperatures ranging from -10° to 150° F.
The intercom stations feature a 2 1/2″ (64mm) diameter speaker, ensuring clear voice and signal transmission, and are equipped with a phenolic resin impregnated, moisture-proof cloth cone for enhanced durability. The VPCS Series comes with two die-cast baffles that protect the speaker from vandalism and are offered with a 25-volt transformer with various wattage taps or in a 45 ohm configuration.
Models marked with “PB” are outfitted with a vandal-proof push-button call switch, ideal for installations requiring call origination as a key security feature. These models incorporate a robust, momentary action push-button rated at 3A at 120 VAC/1.5A at 250 VAC, mounted on a robust 11-gauge stainless steel face plate, and are compatible with standard 2 or 3-gang E.O. boxes. The assembly includes 5” (127mm) lead wires and a single pole, single throw, normally open switch. The pushbutton assembly, crafted from nickel-plated brass, is moisture-sealed with an IP65 rating.
Additionally, the VPB-1A accessory is a vandal-resistant push-switch intercom component mounted on a single gang size stainless steel plate. It can be used alongside VPCS 2- and 3-gang stations or as a standalone signaling device when a separate call origination button is required.
