Description
The ELK-IP232 is an Ethernet to RS-232 Serial Port Bridge designed to integrate standard serial communication devices, such as PCs or audio/video distribution systems, into an Ethernet network infrastructure. This bridge facilitates seamless bi-directional communication, acting as both a network server and client, capable of initiating and accepting network connections. Once a connection is established, the remote network device or computer is virtually linked to the serial device across the bridge, allowing for the exchange of messages between the two. The device supports simultaneous connections with up to twelve network devices, ensuring data sent from any networked device is bridged to the serial port, while data from the serial side is distributed to all connected network devices. The bridge is adept at handling and transmitting both UDP and TCP packets.
