Description
**Overview** – Net2 is a sophisticated networked access control solution designed for enhanced security management. By leveraging a networked infrastructure, it offers centralized administration, comprehensive event tracking, and adaptable user access management. Each access control unit operates within a network while maintaining the capability for autonomous operation, ensuring seamless decision-making and event logging.
The Net2 plus control unit interfaces with a central management computer through an RJ45 connector, integrating seamlessly into existing TCP/IP Ethernet networks. This facilitates highly adaptable installation choices, particularly in environments with established LAN/WAN setups. Additionally, the Net2 plus features an RS485 interface, enabling connection with other control units, such as Net2 classic models, via dedicated CAT5 cabling.
A single Net2 plus unit can serve as the network interface for the LAN and manage a wired RS485 chain of additional units, eliminating the necessity for a separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter. The Net2 plus is also offered with Power over Ethernet (PoE), combining both data and power transmission over Ethernet cables. This setup simplifies integration into existing LANs using standard RJ45 connections, provided it is compatible with a PoE switch or injector.
Access control units are available as standalone PCBs, enclosed in plastic housing, or included in a 2A boxed metal/plastic enclosure with a mains-monitored backup power supply. The latest Net2 plus variant includes a PoE+ power supply within a metal/plastic cabinet, negating the need for a separate backup power source.
**Installation** – The Net2 plus control unit comes with a color-coded label for easy connection to readers, power supplies, and more. It features a voltage-free relay, enabling it to control any lock or electronic device. Components such as exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm systems can be integrated.
Control units communicate with the central PC via LAN using standard TCP/IP protocols. It’s recommended to assign the Net2 plus a static IP address, with all configurations managed via the Net2 Configuration Utility. Diagnostic LEDs are strategically placed near relevant terminals to ensure smooth installation, while internal end-of-line resistors can be included as needed, eliminating the requirement for external resistors.
**Operation** – Changes made on the PC are instantly communicated and stored within the control unit. When a user presents a token to the reader, the control unit identifies the user and grants or denies access accordingly.
