Description
**Overview** – Net2 is an advanced networked access control system offering centralized management, detailed event reporting, and flexible user access control. Each access control unit functions as part of the network yet operates autonomously, making independent decisions and logging events.
The Net2 plus access control unit integrates with a central administration PC via an RJ45 connector over a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network. This setup significantly enhances installation flexibility on sites equipped with LAN/WAN infrastructure. Additionally, the Net2 plus unit is equipped with an RS485 connection, allowing it to link with other Net2 plus or Net2 classic units through a dedicated CAT5 cable.
A single Net2 plus unit can serve as the interface to the LAN and can manage a wired RS485 daisy chain of additional Net2 units, eliminating the need for a separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter. The Net2 plus unit is also available with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, a technology enabling power and data transmission via Ethernet cables. Net2 plus with PoE connects directly to existing LANs using a standard RJ45 connector, provided it’s powered by a compatible PoE switch or injector.
Access control units are available as bare PCBs, within plastic housings, or mounted in a 2A metal/plastic cabinet with a mains-monitored backup power supply. The Net2 plus unit now features a PoE+ power supply in the cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate mains backup supply.
**Installation** – The Net2 plus unit is labeled with color-coded connections for readers, power supplies, and more. It includes a voltage-free relay for switching any lock or electronic device and supports connections for exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm devices.
The control units connect to the PC using TCP/IP protocol over a LAN and require a static IP address for operation. Configuration is handled through the Net2 Configuration Utility. Installation is simplified with diagnostic LEDs near relevant terminals and built-in end-of-line resistors, negating the need for external terminating resistors.
**Operation** – Changes made on the PC are instantly relayed and stored in the access control unit. When a user presents their credential to the reader, the control unit authenticates and grants or denies access accordingly.
