Description
**Overview** – Net2 is a sophisticated networked access control solution offering centralized administration, comprehensive event reporting, and flexible user access management. Each access control unit forms part of the network but operates independently, making autonomous access decisions and logging events.
The Net2 plus controller connects to a central management PC using an RJ45 plug through a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network, enhancing installation flexibility in LAN/WAN environments. It also features an RS485 connection, allowing it to link with other Net2 plus or Net2 classic controllers using a dedicated CAT5 cable.
A single Net2 plus unit can serve as the network interface to the LAN and manage a wired RS485 daisy chain of additional Net2 plus or Net2 classic controllers, eliminating the need for a separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter. Additionally, the Net2 plus is available with Power over Ethernet (PoE), facilitating the simultaneous transmission of power and data over Ethernet cables. It connects directly to the existing LAN via a standard RJ45 plug, provided the network is equipped with a compatible PoE switch or PoE injector.
Access control units are available as a PCB-only option, within a plastic enclosure, or integrated with a 2A boxed metal/plastic mains-monitored backup power supply. The Net2 plus now includes PoE+ power supply in a metal/plastic cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate mains back-up.
**Installation Features** – The Net2 plus controller features color-coded labels for easy identification of connections such as the reader, power supply, and others. The unit includes a voltage-free relay capable of switching any lock or electrical device. Additionally, exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm devices can be connected.
Controllers communicate with PCs via the standard TCP/IP protocol within a LAN and should be assigned a fixed/static IP address. Configuration is performed through the Net2 Configuration Utility software.
Diagnostic LEDs positioned near relevant terminals assist with seamless installation, and end-of-line resistors can be integrated into the circuit as needed, eliminating the need for external terminating resistors.
**Operations** – Any adjustments made on the PC are instantly relayed and saved to the access control unit. Upon presenting a token to the reader, the control unit verifies the user’s credentials and grants or denies access accordingly.
