Description
The ION C6310-3340 is a chassis-based media converter module that serves as a bridge between a twisted pair RJ-11 port and a fiber port, enabling the connection of central-office voice-grade signals to remote Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) equipment using standard telephone signaling. An end-to-end system requires two units: the first unit interfaces with a telephone line or PBX, configured in FXO Mode, allowing it to detect ringing voltages and function as a telephone. The second, reciprocal unit operates in FXS Mode, acting as a Central Office and connecting to a telephone device. Together, these modules facilitate the extension of legacy analog phone lines over fiber, suitable for both permanent installations and temporary job-site setups.
