Both options employ a pivot mechanism for activation.
**Function**
The robust laminated stainless steel bolt, nearly 3 inches in length, is activated by a simple pivot mechanism, establishing the MS1850S Series Deadlock as the industry standard for narrow stile aluminum doors. This elongated bolt offers exceptional security for single leaf doors, accommodating even tall and flexible doors or installations with excessive door-to-jamb gaps.
The MS1850S-X5X Series Deadlock meets the security requirements for sliding narrow stile aluminum doors in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. Sharing the locking mechanism with the MS1850S Series, this version features a hook-shaped laminated bolt designed to withstand the separation movement of sliding doors and jambs. Its over-center maximum security locking action ensures resistance against prying attempts in any direction.
Special Configuration: The 1850S-X2X Series Short Throw Deadlock utilizes a laminated stainless steel short bolt, activated by a pivot mechanism, to secure single leaf narrow stile aluminum doors.
**Operation**
A 360° turn of the key or thumbturn projects or retracts the counterbalanced bolt. The key can only be removed when the bolt is fully locked or unlocked. The lock accommodates any standard 1″ (25.4 mm) length, 1-5/32″ (29.4 mm) diameter mortise cylinder with a compatible cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder, or thumbturn, like the 4066 Thumbturn, available separately. Cylinders can be installed from either or both sides of the lock.
