The MS4043 Cylinder Guard is a robust security solution designed to protect door cylinders from vandalism and forced entry.
Functionality:
Standard mortise cylinders, typically made of brass, represent a vulnerability in narrow stile door security. These can be easily compromised by burglars using tools like pliers or a pipe wrench to remove the cylinder, providing access to the deadlock. The MS4043 Cylinder Guard addresses this security concern with a threefold protection mechanism:
1. The exterior shield ring features a fully beveled design, offering minimal purchase for prying or twisting attempts.
2. Constructed from hardened steel, the combination of its shape and material strength makes it nearly impossible for attackers to grip the ring, even with pointed implements.
3. Should an intruder attempt to use a prying tool, such as a cold chisel, to bypass the guard, they will be forced to pull a heavy steel plate through a round hole in the 1/8″ metal door stile. This level of resistance far exceeds what most hand tools can achieve, significantly deterring unauthorized entry.
