### Standard Duty Deadlatch System
#### Overview
The 4510 Series Standard Duty Deadlatch is a versatile solution for managing access control during and after business hours in sectors such as healthcare, retail, and finance. Designed for flexibility, this deadlatch enables two-way traffic when required, and can be set to allow only exit access at other times. It exhibits interchangeability with any MS1850S Deadlock having the same backset and faceplate configuration, although it does not provide the highest security level associated with the MS® Deadlock.
#### Key Operations
To retract the spring-loaded latchbolt, users can either turn the key or operate the handle/paddle. A reverse key turn while the bolt is held back ensures the bolt remains retracted, facilitating free passage. The lock is compatible with standard mortise cylinders featuring an MS® cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder or 4066 Thumbturn, both available separately. The system can accept cylinders from one or both sides, ensuring adaptability to various installation requirements.
#### Notable Features
– **Cylinder Backset:** Options include 7/8″ [22.2 mm], 31/32″ [24.6 mm], 1-1/8″ [28.6 mm], or 1-1/2″ [38.1 mm].
– **Case Construction:** Built with steel and corrosion-resistant plating, the case measures 1″ x 5-13/16″ x depth [25.4 mm x 147.6 mm x depth], where depth differs by backset size.
– **Bolt Holdback:** The reverse key turn mechanism retains the bolt when fully retracted, allowing a free-swinging door.
– **Latchbolt:** Crafted entirely from metal with hardened steel pins, reversible without special equipment, dimensions of 1/2″ x 1″ x 1/2″ [12.7 mm x 25.4 mm x 12.7 mm] throw.
– **Auxiliary Bolt:** Fully metallic, it deadlocks the latchbolt to deter “loiding” or entry by case knife.
– **Faceplate Dimensions:** Measures 1″ x 6-7/8″ [25.4 mm x 174.6 mm].
– **Strike Options:** Supplied with a 4902-01 strike for doors that close flush to the jamb. Additional strikes are available for specific needs, such as radius strikes for paired doors or extended strikes like the 4901 for cases requiring coverage of slot strikes from MS locks.
#### Packaging
Each deadlatch system comes individually boxed, complete with the necessary strike components and mounting screws. Components like the cylinder, paddle, and handle must be procured separately.
