Description

The 4900 Heavy Duty Deadlatch is designed for optimal traffic control flexibility and straightforward installation in access control systems.

Functionality:

The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatches offer adaptability in managing traffic flow and are simple to install. They feature a key-controlled bolt hold-back mechanism, perfect for systems requiring alternate free entry and exit-only modes. This enables a “locked” entry door to serve as an exit for individuals already inside a building. Compatible with doors no less than 1-3/4″ [44.5 mm] thick, these deadlatches can be interchanged with any MS1850S deadbolt matching the backset and faceplate shape and retrofit existing 4510 or older 4700 Deadlatch setups.

Operation:

To operate, the latchbolt can be retracted using a key, handle, or paddle. For bolt holdback, the latchbolt can be pushed in and held with a reverse key turn. This lock is compatible with any standard 1″ [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32″ [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder equipped with an MS® cam like the 4036 Mortise Cylinder or a thumbturn such as the 4066 Thumbturn, all sold separately. Cylinders can be installed from one or both sides.

Distinctive Features:

– **Cylinder Backset:** Options include 31/32″ [24.6 mm], 1-1/8″ [28.6 mm], or 1-1/2″ [38.1 mm].

– **Case:** Crafted from steel with corrosion-resistant plating, dimensions are 7/8″ x 5-13/16″ with varying depth based on backset. Tube spacer brackets, fastened by screws, simplify tab mounting removal.

– **Bolt Holdback:** The bolt can remain retracted by a reverse key turn, allowing the door to swing freely.

– **Latchbolt:** Made from solid brass, with reversible handing without special tools. Dimensions are 5/8″ x 1″ x 5/8″ [15.9 mm x 25.4 mm x 15.9 mm] throw.

– **Auxiliary Linchpin:** Constructed from stainless steel, it deadlocks the latch bolt to prevent unauthorized access, such as loiding attempts.

– **Faceplate:** Dimensions are 1″ x 6-7/8″ [25.4 mm x 174.6 mm]. Supplied with both flat and radius faceplates; flat ones are adjustable on-site for right or left beveled edge doors.

– **Strike:** Includes the standard 4902 strike for flush door closures. Optionally, the 4901 strike can be specified for retrofit. Radius strikes for paired doors and long lip strikes for center-hung doors are also offered.

– **Standard Package:** Comes individually boxed with a strike plate, both flat and radius faceplates, and mounting screws. Cylinders, paddles, and handles are sold separately.

– **Shipping Weight:** Approximately 1-1/4 lbs [0.57 kg].

Customization Options:

Specifications for backset, faceplate shape, strike, handing, and finish are required upon order. For ANSI-sized wood and hollow metal doors, refer to the 4920AN Heavy Duty Deadlatch. Available options include the 4913 model without faceplate or strike plate, and finish choices of 313 Dark Bronze Anodized, 335 Black Anodized, and 628 Clear Anodized.
