Description
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatch delivers robust security and adaptable traffic management for commercial environments, ensuring smooth installation across various settings.
**Functionality:**
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatches allow for versatile traffic management with an easy-to-install design. The key-controlled bolt hold-back feature is ideal for settings where controlled entry and exit are necessary—enabling free entrance at designated times while maintaining exit-only conditions at others. This feature allows an otherwise locked entrance to function as an exit for individuals already within the premises. The deadlatch requires a minimum door thickness of 1-3/4″ (44.5 mm) and can be interchanged with any MS1850S deadbolt of the same backset and faceplate shape without modifying the stile. It also fits existing 4510 and discontinued 4700 Deadlatch preparations.
**Operation:**
Activation is simple via key, handle, or paddle to retract the spring-loaded latchbolt. To keep the bolt retracted, push it in and turn the key in reverse. This lock is compatible with any standard 1″ (25.4 mm) length, 1-5/32″ (29.4 mm) diameter mortise cylinder with an MS® cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder or 4066 Thumbturn, available separately. Cylinders can be installed from either one or both sides of the lock.
**Key Features:**
– **Cylinder Backset:** Available in 31/32″ (24.6 mm), 1-1/8″ (28.6 mm), or 1-1/2″ (38.1 mm).
– **Construction:** The case is made of steel with a corrosion-resistant plating and measures 7/8″ x 5-13/16″ (22.2 mm x 147.6 mm), with depth varying by backset. Screw-fastened tube spacer brackets allow for cleaner removal during tab mounting.
– **Bolt Holdback:** When fully retracted, a reverse key turn retains the bolt, allowing the door to swing freely.
– **Latchbolt:** Constructed from solid brass, with easy reversible handing without special tools, measuring 5/8″ x 1″ x 5/8″ (15.9 mm x 25.4 mm x 15.9 mm) throw.
– **Auxiliary Linchpin:** Made of stainless steel to deadlock the latchbolt, preventing unauthorized entry methods.
– **Faceplate:** Measures 1″ x 6-7/8″ (25.4 mm x 174.6 mm). Both flat and radius options are included, with flat plates adjustable for beveled edge doors.
– **Strike:** Includes standard strike 4902 for flush or nearly flush jamb closures. For retrofit installations, specify 4901. Additional options include a radius strike for paired doors and long lip strikes for center-hung doors.
– **Packaging:** Supplied with strike plate, flat and radius faceplates, and mounting screws in individual boxes. Separate cylinder, paddle, or handle options available.
– **Shipping Weight:** 1-1/4 lbs (0.57 kg).
**Customization Options:**
When ordering, specify options such as backset, faceplate shape, strike, handing, and finish. The 4920AN Heavy Duty Deadlatch (ANSI Size) is recommended for wood and hollow metal doors. The deadlatch is available without a faceplate or strike plate (select model 4913) and comes in finishes like 313 Dark bronze anodized, 335 Black anodized, or 628 Clear anodized.
