Description
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatch offers robust security solutions with adaptable traffic control and straightforward installation.
Functionality:
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatch provides versatile traffic management and easy setup. This security hardware includes a key-controlled bolt hold-back feature, enabling two-way traffic in situations that require free entry at particular times and exit-only during others. This feature allows a locked entrance to be utilized as an exit by individuals already inside. It requires a minimum door thickness of 1-3/4″ [44.5 mm]. This deadlatch is interchangeable with any MS1850S deadbolt having the same backset and faceplate shape, and fits retrofits for existing 4510 or outdated 4700 Deadlatch installations without stile modifications.
Operation:
Activate the handle, paddle, or turn the key to retract the spring-loaded latchbolt. For bolt retention, push the bolt in and secure it by turning the key in reverse. Compatible with any standard 1″ [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32″ [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MSĀ® cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder, or optionally, a thumbturn like the 4066 Thumbturn, available separately. The lock can accept a cylinder from one or both sides.
Features:
Cylinder Backset options include 31/32″ [24.6 mm], 1-1/8″ [28.6 mm], or 1-1/2″ [38.1 mm]. The case is steel with corrosion-resistant plating, measuring 7/8″ x 5-13/16″ x varying depths, dependent on backset. Screw-fastened tube spacer brackets allow for cleaner removal when tab mounted.
The Bolt Holdback feature retains the bolt in a retracted position with a reverse key turn, allowing for free door swing. The latchbolt is crafted from solid brass, and its handing is easily reversible without any special tools. It features a 5/8″ x 1″ x 5/8″ [15.9 mm x 25.4 mm x 15.9 mm] throw. Additionally, a stainless steel Auxiliary Linchpin deadlocks the latch bolt against “loiding” or unauthorized entry via case-knife methods.
The Faceplate measures 1″ x 6-7/8″ [25.4 mm x 174.6 mm] and includes both flat and radius versions. Flat faceplates can be adjusted on-site for doors with right or left beveled edges.
The standard Strike is 4902, designed for a flat jamb where the door is flush. For retrofit projects, specify the 4901 model. Radius strikes suitable for opposite stile in paired doors, and long lip strikes for center-hung doors are also available.
The standard package includes an individual box with a strike plate, both flat and radius faceplates, and mounting screws. The cylinder, paddle, and handle are sold separately. Shipping weight is 1-1/4 lbs [0.57 kg].
Options:
Specify backset, faceplate shape, strike, handing, and finish when ordering. For wood and hollow metal door applications, consider the 4920AN Heavy Duty Deadlatch (ANSI Size). Available options include versions without a faceplate or strike plate, designated as 4913. Finishes include 313 Dark bronze anodized, 335 Black anodized, and 628 Clear anodized.
