Description
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatch is a versatile solution for managing building access and ensuring straightforward installation.
### Functionality:
The 4900 Series Heavy Duty Deadlatches are designed for optimal traffic management and ease of installation. The key-controlled bolt hold-back feature supports two-way traffic by enabling free entrance at specified times and exit-only capabilities at others. This feature permits a secured entrance to function as an exit for individuals already inside. A minimum door thickness of 1-3/4″ [44.5 mm] is required. This Deadlatch is compatible with any MS1850S deadbolt that shares the same backset and faceplate design and can also be retrofitted to accommodate existing 4510 and obsolete 4700 Deadlatch setups without requiring stile modifications.
### Operation:
Users can retract the spring-loaded latchbolt with a key, handle, or paddle. To hold the bolt retracted, push it inward and secure it with a reverse key turn. The lock is compatible with any standard 1″ [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32″ [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MSĀ® cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder, or a compatible thumbturn like the 4066, both sold separately. The cylinder can be installed on one or both sides of the lock.
### Key Features:
– **Cylinder Backset:** Available in options of 31/32″ [24.6 mm], 1-1/8″ [28.6 mm], or 1-1/2″ [38.1 mm].
– **Construction:** Made of steel with corrosion-resistant plating, measuring 7/8″ x 5-13/16″ x depth [22.2 mm x 147.6 mm x depth], which varies according to backset. Includes screw-fastened tube spacer brackets for simplified removal during tab mounting.
– **Bolt Holdback:** When the bolt is fully retracted, a reverse key turn locks it in place, allowing the door to swing freely.
– **Latchbolt:** Manufactured from solid brass, with reversible handing using standard tools. Measures 5/8″ x 1″ x 5/8″ [15.9 mm x 25.4 mm x 15.9 mm].
– **Auxiliary Linchpin:** Constructed from stainless steel to deadlock the latch bolt, preventing “loiding” or unauthorized entry with a shim.
– **Faceplate:** Available in dimensions of 1″ x 6-7/8″ [25.4 mm x 174.6 mm] with both flat and radius designs. Flat faceplates can be field-adjusted for right or left beveled edge doors.
– **Strike:** Standard 4902 strike for flush or nearly flush door closures is included. For retrofit situations, specify the 4901 strike. Radius strike options are available for opposite stile installations on paired doors, with long lip strikes offered for center-hung doors.
Each unit comes individually boxed along with a strike plate, flat and radius faceplates, and necessary mounting screws. Cylinders, paddles, and handles are available separately. The product weighs approximately 1-1/4 lbs [0.57 kg].
### Options:
When ordering, specify desired backset, faceplate shape, strike, handing, and finish. The 4920AN Heavy Duty Deadlatch (ANSI Size) is suitable for wood and hollow metal door applications. The 4913 model is available without a faceplate or strike plate. Finish options include 313 Dark Bronze Anodized, 335 Black Anodized, and 628 Clear Anodized.
