The MS1850S Series MS® Deadlock features a laminated stainless steel bolt, engineered to deliver optimum security for single leaf narrow stile aluminum doors. The MS1850S-X5X Series MS® Deadlock, on the other hand, incorporates a laminated stainless steel hookbolt, specifically designed to enhance security for sliding narrow stile aluminum doors. Both locks operate through a pivot mechanism, ensuring robust security.
Security Functionality
This deadlock series is renowned in the narrow stile aluminum door industry for its substantial laminated stainless steel bolt, extending nearly 3 inches in length. This design maximizes security for a single leaf door, accommodating even taller or more flexible doors and installations where there may be a larger gap between the door and jamb.
For sliding narrow stile aluminum doors found in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings, the MS1850S-X5X Series MS® Deadlock is expertly designed to meet security demands. It mirrors the locking technology of the MS1850S Series, while featuring a hook-shaped bolt to thwart the separating motion between door and jamb. This over-center maximum security (MS) locking action ensures resistance against attempts to pry the door in any direction—up, down, or sideways.
In a specialized design, the 1850S-X2X Series Short Throw Deadlock incorporates a laminated stainless steel short bolt, utilizing the same pivot mechanism to secure single leaf narrow stile aluminum doors.
Operational Mechanism
A 360° rotation of the key or thumbturn extends or retracts the counterbalanced bolt. The key remains removable only when the bolt is securely locked or unlocked. These locks are compatible with any standard 1-inch [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32-inch [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder featuring an MS® cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder, or a thumbturn like the 4066 Thumbturn, available separately. The lock supports cylinder installation on one or both sides.
