Description
**About** – Net2 is an advanced networked access control solution. Utilizing a networked setup provides the benefits of centralized management, detailed event reporting, and flexible user access control. While each control unit is interconnected in a network, they are capable of independent operation, making autonomous decisions and storing event data efficiently.
The Net2 plus control unit interfaces with a central administration PC through an RJ45 connector on a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network, significantly enhancing installation flexibility on sites with established LAN/WAN infrastructure. Additionally, the Net2 plus control unit features an RS485 connection, enabling it to link with other Net2 plus or Net2 classic control modules via a dedicated CAT5 cable.
One Net2 plus control unit can serve as the network gateway for the LAN while also managing a wired RS485 daisy chain of additional Net2 plus or Net2 classic units, eliminating the need for a separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter. The Net2 plus model with Power over Ethernet (PoE) supports simultaneous power and data transmission through Ethernet cabling and can be easily integrated into an existing LAN using a standard RJ45 connector (with power supplied via a compatible PoE switch or PoE injector).
Control units are available as PCB only, encased in a plastic housing, or mounted within a 2A boxed metal/plastic enclosure with a mains-monitored backup power supply. The latest Net2 plus unit comes equipped with PoE+ power supply within a metal/plastic cabinet, removing the need for an additional mains supply backup.
**Installation** – The Net2 plus control unit features clearly labeled, color-coded connections for readers, power supply, and other interfaces. It includes a voltage-free relay, allowing it to operate any lock or electrical device. Connections for exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm devices can also be made.
Control units communicate with the PC over a standard TCP/IP protocol within a LAN. Assigning a fixed/static IP address to the Net2 plus control unit is recommended. Configuration of the unit is managed through the Net2 Configuration Utility.
Diagnostic LEDs are located near relevant terminals to facilitate seamless installation. Internal end-of-line resistors can be activated as needed, eliminating the necessity for external terminating resistors.
**Operation** – Adjustments made at the PC are instantly relayed and stored within the control unit. When a user presents their credential to the reader, the control unit identifies the user and grants or denies access accordingly.
