Description

About: The Net2 system is a networked access control solution designed for centralized management, event reporting, and flexible access control for users. Each control unit operates independently within the network, allowing for autonomous decision-making and event logging.

The Net2 plus control unit connects to a central administration PC via an RJ45 interface over a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network, enhancing installation flexibility on sites equipped with LAN/WAN infrastructure. It also features an RS485 connection, enabling integration with additional Net2 plus or Net2 classic control units via CAT5 cabling.

A single Net2 plus control unit can serve as the network interface to the LAN, while simultaneously managing a wired RS485 daisy chain of other control units, eliminating the need for an independent TCP/IP to RS485 converter. Additionally, the Net2 plus is available with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, facilitating power and data transmission through Ethernet cabling. This setup integrates seamlessly with existing LANs using an RJ45 plug, provided it is connected to a PoE switch or injector.

Control units are available as standalone PCBs, within a plastic enclosure, or mounted in a 2A boxed metal/plastic cabinet with a monitored backup power supply. The latest Net2 plus unit comes with a PoE+ power supply in a metal/plastic cabinet, negating the need for a separate mains backup.

Installation: The Net2 plus control unit features a label with clear, color-coded connections for readers, power supplies, and more. Its voltage-free relay can trigger any lock or electrical device. Connections for exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm systems are included. Communication with the PC is facilitated through the LAN’s standard TCP/IP protocol. The Net2 plus unit should have a static IP address, and its configuration can be managed through the Net2 Configuration Utility.

Diagnostic LEDs are placed near the relevant terminals to ensure a smooth installation process. Internal end-of-line resistors can be activated as needed, making external terminating resistors unnecessary.

Operation: Any adjustments made at the PC are instantly relayed and stored in the control unit. When a user presents their credentials at the reader, the system identifies them and either grants or denies access accordingly.
