Description
Overview– Net2 is a highly efficient networked access control system designed for superior access management solutions. This networked configuration ensures centralized control, efficient event reporting, and flexible user access management. The control unit is integrated into a network but operates independently, allowing it to make autonomous decisions and retain event logs.
The Net2 plus control unit connects to an administrative PC via an RJ45 plug into a standard TCP/IP Ethernet network, enhancing installation flexibility across sites with existing LAN/WAN infrastructure. Additionally, the Net2 plus unit features a RS485 connection, enabling daisy chaining with other Net2 plus or Net2 classic units using dedicated CAT5 cabling.
One Net2 plus control unit can serve as the network interface for the LAN and support a wired RS485 daisy chain of additional Net2 devices, eliminating the need for a separate TCP/IP to RS485 converter. The Net2 plus also comes equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, allowing seamless integration into existing LANs through a standard RJ45 plug, powered by either a PoE-compatible switch or PoE injector.
Control units are offered as a PCB only, within a plastic housing, or enclosed in a 2A boxed metal/plastic mains monitored backup power supply. Now available with PoE+ power supply in a metal/plastic cabinet, Net2 plus units do not require separate mains backup.
Installation– The Net2 plus control unit features a labelled guide with color-coded connections for easy setup of readers, power supplies, and more. Equipped with a voltage-free relay, the unit can control any lock or electrical device. It also supports connections for exit buttons, door contacts, tamper switches, and alarm devices.
The control units communicate with the PC using the standard TCP/IP protocol over a LAN and should have a fixed/static IP address assigned. Configuration is handled through the Net2 Configuration Utility. Diagnostic LEDs positioned near relevant terminals facilitate a smooth installation process. Internal end-of-line resistors can be integrated as needed, eliminating the requirement for external terminating resistors.
Functionality– Any updates made via the PC are instantly relayed to and stored in the control unit. When a user presents their credential to the reader, the control unit swiftly verifies their identity and grants or denies access based on the stored data.
