The use of encryption keys ensures that no data transmission occurs until a mutual authentication is established between the card and the reader, setting them apart from typical proximity cards. Beyond simply access control applications enabled by radio-frequency technology, ioSmart Smart Cards and Tags offer compatibility with additional unlocked sectors for third-party applications, like vending machines, cafeterias, and public transport systems such as buses and trains. However, the software necessary for programming these open sectors is not supplied by Kantech.
