The desktop credential reader is engineered to be conveniently positioned beside a PC. It’s utilized for reading access credentials and delivering the token number in a keyboard input format. This reader is instrumental in adding tokens to security systems and identifying misplaced access cards. Multiple workstations can be equipped with these desktop credential readers. As a keyboard input device, it must be used carefully. When access credentials are presented, the information is entered wherever the cursor is located on the computer screen. Therefore, ensure that the cursor is correctly placed before presenting a credential. Open the new user window in your access management software manually and position the cursor in the ‘token number’ field to ensure the token is accurately added to the system.
### **Installation**
This desktop reader is designed for indoor use only. Connect the reader to an available USB port on the PC using the included USB cable. Stop and restart the access control server program. The device will then be recognized by the access control software. This unit requires version 3.09 or later of the access control software. Support for Mifare cards necessitates version 4.17 or later. If a software upgrade is needed, contact Technical Support.
### **Power Supply**
The unit receives power through the USB cable, so no additional power supply is necessary. Ensure all wiring complies with the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA70), local codes, and the relevant authorities.
