The pivCLASS RKCL40 dual interface reader by HID Global is designed for high-security settings that comply with FIPS-201 standards for “Controlled” and “Limited” access points. When integrated with a pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) or an OSDP-compliant robust authentication controller infrastructure, the pivCLASS RKCL40 reader delivers enhanced authentication, ensuring the card’s authenticity, data integrity, and safeguards against duplication or loss/theft. In Card Authentication Key (CAK) mode, it effectively reads PIV-based cards through a contactless interface, utilizing a CAK certificate. Similarly, in PIV+PIN mode, it performs on-card PIN matching and validates the PIV Authentication Key certificate.
