Description
**Advanced Security Readers for Controlled Access Areas: Enhancing Security, Interoperability, and Compliance**
– **Integrated Security Solution**: From a unified and trusted source, these readers facilitate compliance with FIPS 201 standards per NIST SP 800-116 guidelines and the TWIC Reader Specification.
– **Field-Reconfigurable Readers**: Upgradeable on-site to reach higher assurance levels by adding a contact or contact plus biometric sidecar.
– **Transitional Access Control Readers**: Capable of reading PIV, PIV-I, CAC, CIV, TWIC, FRAC, iCLASS®, and HID Prox® cards, allowing for seamless migration from traditional technology to advanced PKI-enabled smart cards.
– **Contactless Access Control with Keypad**: Designed for low-security areas, these readers adopt the “PIN to PACS” method using both legacy and FIPS-201-compliant cards.
HID Global’s security solutions empower facilities to upgrade their existing Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) for FIPS 201/FICAM compliance without replacing current systems. The RK40 and RPK40 models are versatile, addressing multiple security scenarios to achieve full FICAM compliance.
For transitional scenarios, readers function standalone to process legacy iCLASS and HID prox cards as well as FIPS 201-compliant cards, transmitting card details directly to the control panel. Keypads also support direct PIN-entry to the PACS panel, streamlining the shift to full FICAM compliance while being cost-effective for “Uncontrolled” access points where strict compliance isn’t necessary.
For FICAM compliance, integrating the pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) enables single-factor robust authentication, supporting CHUID + VIS and CAK authentication as per NIST Special Publication 800-116.
To implement two-factor authentication, incorporate the HID pivCLASS contact reader sidecar. This sidecar features a contact card reader slot and an LCD for user messaging, supporting CHUID + VIS and CAK modes contactlessly or via contact reader interfaces. It also provides PKI + PIN authentication on the contact interface with match-on-card PIN verification.
For three-factor authentication, add the HID pivCLASS contact plus biometric reader sidecar, which includes a biometric sensor. This configuration supports CHUID + VIS and CAK across interfaces, as well as PKI + PIN and PKI + PIN + BIO authentication modes using the contact interface.
