These advanced readers are engineered to seamlessly integrate with the pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM), achieving compliance with the assurance level requirements as specified in the NIST Special Publication 800-116 and the federal government’s FICAM E-PACS guidelines. The pivCLASS readers provide flexible deployment options, operating in either Wiegand mode or PAM mode. In Wiegand mode, the readers can function independently of a PAM, offering a phased implementation approach for transitioning to FIPS 201 compliance. Transitioning from Wiegand mode to PAM mode is easily accomplished in the field by updating the reader’s firmware.
