HID Global’s pivCLASS reader lineup encompasses an extensive range of contactless, dual contact/contactless, and biometric access control readers. These devices are optimized for compatibility with the pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) to fulfill assurance level standards as outlined in NIST Special Publication 800-116 and the federal FICAM E-PACS guidelines. The readers support deployment in both Wiegand and PAM modes. Wiegand mode is suitable for operations without a PAM, offering a scalable deployment path towards FIPS 201 compliance. Readers can be seamlessly transitioned from Wiegand to PAM mode in the field by updating the firmware.
