The HID Global pivCLASS RKCL40 dual interface reader, featuring both contact and contactless capabilities, is ideal for security zones that require compliance with FIPS-201 standards for “Controlled” and “Limited” access levels. When paired with a pivCLASS Authentication Module (PAM) or an OSDP-compliant strong authentication controller infrastructure, the pivCLASS RKCL40 reader delivers robust authentication. It verifies that the presented card is authentic, ensures the card data has not been altered, confirms the card is not a duplicate, and checks that the card has not been lost or stolen. In Card Authentication Key (CAK) mode, it supports contactless reading of any PIV-based card with a CAK certificate. In PIV+PIN mode, it facilitates on-card PIN matching and validates the PIV Authentication Key certificate.
