The majority of pivCLASS readers can operate in both Wiegand and PAM modes. Wiegand mode enables deployment without a PAM, offering a flexible, phased approach towards FIPS 201 compliance. Transitioning from Wiegand to PAM mode can be accomplished onsite by updating the reader firmware.
