This pedestal is engineered not only to support card readers but also cameras, intercoms, keypads, entry/exit buttons, biometric scanners, telephone entry systems, housings, and various other security access control devices. Frequently deployed for automatic gate entry and exit, parking areas, and perimeter security applications, this pedestal comes equipped with a specific faceplate compatible with DoorKing’s telephone entry systems (1800 Series), a sturdy base plate, and a sliding cover plate to conceal the mounting bolts securing the base. Unlike competitors using a .074″ wall tube, this pedestal uses a .120″ wall tube, offering 62% more steel for enhanced resistance against vandalism and harsh weather conditions. It has successfully passed rigorous testing, enduring sustained Category 5 hurricane winds of 157 mph.
Architecturally designed, the neck is meticulously cut and welded, facilitating easy wiring from the ground through the pedestal into the access control device, making the installation process straightforward. Each pedestal undergoes a bead-blasting process to remove any contaminants and blemishes, followed by a powder coating with an outdoor-rated TGIC polyester finish that includes UV protection to ensure durability in various weather conditions.
Packaged with carriage bolt hardware, each pedestal is securely wrapped in foam and individually boxed for safe transportation. Options for customization, including colors, heights, reaches, faceplates, and base plates, are available; additional costs and lead times may apply. For a comprehensive turnkey solution, a pedestal is typically bundled with a mounting bolt kit and card reader housing.
