In Ethernet networking, cable lengths are typically limited to 100 meters (328 feet), posing significant challenges in extensive installations. The OUTREACH Max GXT provides a solution for network engineers by extending the gigabit Ethernet reach. By integrating an OUTREACH Max GXT into the network line, the Ethernet range is instantly expanded from 100 meters to 200 meters (656 feet).
Since the OUTREACH Max GXT is powered via Power over Ethernet (POE), it eliminates the need for a local power connection. It can be placed at any point along the network cable, provided no individual cable segment exceeds 100 meters. For instance, to bridge a network connection of 170 meters between a gigabit POE switch and an IP camera, the OUTREACH Max GXT can be positioned 90 meters from the switch, allowing an additional 80 meters of cable to connect to the camera.
The OUTREACH Max GXT facilitates extended network connectivity for all IEEE 802.3af-compliant POE devices, supporting universal standards for low-power devices like fixed IP cameras. It also supports high-power POE standards such as POE Plus (IEEE 802.3at) and even “4-pair” POE for devices requiring up to 90 watts (IEEE 802.3bt).
Note: The OUTREACH Max GXT is engineered for use with POE-compatible equipment exclusively. For applications where POE power is not necessary, the Veracity OUTREACH Lite GXT should be considered.
