Description
The SWIFT® (Smart Wireless Integrated Fire Technology) Wireless System is a game-changer for challenging installations where traditional wired fire detection devices might struggle. In situations where building areas are hard to wire, visually sensitive, or have restricted accessibility, SWIFT wireless fire sensors offer a highly efficient and reliable solution.
These wireless devices utilize a proprietary wireless mesh protocol to seamlessly integrate with a Silent Knight® fire alarm system via the SWIFT wireless gateway. This gateway interfaces with the SLC loop of the 6700, 6808, and 6820/EVS fire alarm control panels using the SK protocol. New type IDs for wireless devices are supported, allowing the fire alarm control panel (FACP) to display all relevant events, including alarms and trouble signals, eliminating the need for an additional annunciator for wireless alerts.
A significant feature of the SWIFT network is its “parent-child” communication linkages, wherein messages from remote devices “hop” through the network until reaching the gateway. This setup ensures robust Class A wireless communication with redundant pathways identified and supervised by the SWIFT protocol. If a device lacks a communication path with adequate signal strength, a wireless module can be added to act as a signal repeater.
A single SWIFT gateway system can support up to 50 devices: 1 SWIFT gateway plus up to 49 wireless detectors, modules, pull stations, and A/V bases. The total number of gateways depends on the available SLC addresses or up to 4 gateways within a common wireless range.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
- Advanced wireless mesh technology (operating in the 902-928 MHz frequency range)
- Any wireless device can serve as a repeater to strengthen communication paths
- Cascading-wave mesh operation ensures reliable and redundant communication routes
- Each system accommodates up to 50 devices: 1 wireless gateway with up to 49 additional devices
- Standard “code wheel” for setting SLC addresses
- Capability to install up to 4 wireless networks with overlapping coverage
- Site Survey feature assesses the site prior to system installation
- Wireless devices powered by (4) CR-123A lithium batteries
- Battery Life – UL certified for up to 2 years
The SWIFT system has been engineered for easy installation with basic hand tools and magnets. The SWIFT Tools PC utility enhances the installation process, allowing for site evaluations (Site Survey), system setup (Mesh Configuration), and system diagnostics. This utility operates on a Windows® laptop and communicates with devices via a USB radio antenna (W-USB) inserted into a USB port. Once the mesh network is established, SWIFT Tools can provide current status information on all devices within range of the SWIFT Gateway.
The result is a comprehensive fire detection system that combines both wired and wireless components, displaying all event information at the fire panel or network displays.
