Description
The 6815 is an SLC expander designed for integration with Honeywell Silent Knight fire alarm control panels, including the 6820 and 6820EVS, utilizing System Sensor® (SK) protocol. This SLC expander mirrors the functionality of the internal SLC in the main control panels, supporting the same addressable devices. The number of 6815 units that can be deployed within a single system is primarily determined by the maximum available points. This allows for extensive customization in large-scale or complex fire alarm system installations.
The 6820 and 6820EVS fire alarm control panels accommodate up to 1,110 points and are equipped with a built-in SLC. By adding a 6815 expander, users can connect an additional 159 SK devices and 159 SK modules, enhancing system capacity.
Furthermore, the 6815 supports SWIFT® wireless detection, enabling wireless device communication with the control panel via a gateway (WSK-WGI) that links to the SLC using SK protocol. Either the internal SLC or the 6815 SLC can handle this function. SWIFT wireless devices can be integrated with hard-wired devices on the same SLC, offering increased flexibility and design options, especially in scenarios where hard-wired solutions face challenges.
The 6815 connects to the fire alarm control panel through an RS 485 system bus. A green LED on the 6815 board provides visual confirmation of successful communication by blinking. If an addressable device on the 6815 experiences failure, the system reports the issue to the 6820 and 6820EVS while maintaining normal operation.
