For optimal results, it is recommended to install the optional RR Series rough-in accessories prior to the ceiling material being installed. These rough-in accessories serve as precise cutout guides during high-volume, production-line installations, ensuring speakers are accurately aligned as holes are created in the sheetrock.
**RR Series Mounting Plates Overview**
The RR Series Mounting Plates are constructed from flat sheet metal, featuring pre-drilled holes designed to affix to the building structure’s joists or trusses. These holes accommodate nails or screws at intervals of 16 inches (406 mm), 20 inches (508 mm), and 24 inches (610 mm) on-center, with the flexibility for installers to drill additional holes up to a maximum spacing of 24-3/4 inches (630 mm) apart. Once the sheetrock is installed over the plate, the plate acts as a template for a blind cutout in the sheetrock. Typically, a router-type cutting tool is used to cut the ceiling material, leveraging the plate ring as a precise cutout guide.
