Description
The Atlas Sound FAP82T is an industry-leading 70.7/100V tuned and ported 8″ coaxial ceiling speaker system, ideal for business music and public address applications, particularly in settings with high ceilings where enhanced efficiency and precise pattern control are critical. With a 100-degree dispersion angle in the 2kHz octave band, it provides optimal coverage in high-ceiling environments by maintaining a tight pattern control. This is crucial because a dispersion angle exceeding 100 degrees can cause a drop-off greater than 6dB at the coverage boundary, leading to significant sound pressure level (SPL) inconsistencies. Utilizing additional speakers with wider dispersion in these settings can exacerbate the problem due to comb filtering from multi-path arrivals. Featuring a high-quality construction, the speaker’s 1″ voice coil and 8″ coaxial cone driver are equipped with a polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround, complemented by a 19mm PEI coaxially mounted tweeter. With a sensitivity of 90dB, this speaker system requires less power to reach the desired SPL. It’s factory assembled into an optimally tuned and ported enclosure with a specially designed 60-watt low saturation 70.7V/100V transformer. The user-friendly front-mounted tap selector switch allows for easy tap selection without having to remove the speaker, and also includes a transformer bypass option for directly coupling the 8-ohm driver with a low impedance amplifier.
