Description
**Applications**
In contemporary architectural acoustics design, the focus is on seamlessly integrating audio solutions with aesthetic considerations, ensuring minimal visual impact without compromising sound quality, fidelity, or intelligibility. The SHS-3T2 Strategically Hidden Loudspeaker brings a compact, versatile design that blends effortlessly into various environments while delivering superb sound performance. This innovative loudspeaker is ideal for paging, background music, and sound masking applications, offering flexible configurations to perfectly suit any space.
**General Description**
The SHS-3T2 features a full-range driver within a multifunctional enclosure, providing high-definition audio output. The transducer couples with the SHS’s tunnel waveguide, enhancing acoustic performance significantly. As sound exits the waveguide, it passes through a patented adaptive dispersion lens, which acts as a phase plug, ensuring even frequency radiation and reducing “hot spots” directly beneath the speaker. This makes the SHS-3T2 excellent for sound reinforcement and music applications as well as sound masking.
It can be installed in three ways: wall-mounted, pendant-mounted, or in-ceiling mounted. The wall mount allows a 90° variable angle for optimal positioning and performance. For open ceiling settings, the SHS-3T2 comes with a steel mounting cable, while the top of the bracket is threaded for compatibility with standard ceiling fan mount downpipe hardware.
For flush in-ceiling installations, the mounting bracket can be removed to minimize installation height. An optional tile bridge (model SHS-3T2-TB) is available for drop tile ceiling setups. Once installed, the speaker is concealed with a patented 3″ diameter dispersion lens with a micro trim ring, blending into the ceiling like a high-end sprinkler head. Through the DesignLab service, custom color matching is available via a UV printer where integrators can provide an image or sample of the ceiling, resulting in a lens and trim ring that match the submitted sample. The SHS-3T2 supports the Adaptive Dispersion Lens with three configurations suitable for various applications. Sound masking and low-ceiling installations under 10′ should use the 4mm dispersion lens with a solid panel. Ceiling heights between 10′ and 14′ require the 8mm dispersion lens with a solid panel, whereas installations over 14′ or those requiring maximum intelligibility should implement the 4mm direct fire lens with a perforated panel.
Connectivity options include standard 2-conductor commercial speaker wire for 70V / 100V amplifiers using a removable 4-pole Euro style connector. For enhanced capability, when paired with an AtlasIED Z-Series High-Definition Acoustical System, the loudspeakers can connect via Cat5e cable. Each SHS-3T2 supports “in” and “out” Cat5e terminals for effortless daisy-chaining with the Z-Series source unit.
