The EVC-1181S subwoofer features a robust 18-inch low-frequency transducer housed in an optimally vented enclosure, specifically crafted to complement 8-, 12-, and 15-inch full-range EVC systems, including the EVC-1122/VI Variable Intensity loudspeaker. Designed to harmonize with a broader range of EV-Innovation series loudspeakers (EVU, EVF, EVH, EVA), the EVC-1181S subwoofer requires a suitable active low-pass filter and a 4th-order Butterworth high-pass filter due to the absence of an internal passive crossover for optimal performance.
The EVC series offers exceptional value in fixed-installation audio applications, constructed from durable 15-mm plywood and finished with EVCoat to enhance longevity. The EV-1181S subwoofer can be floor-mounted or suspended using its multiple M10 rigging points. The loudspeakers in the EVC series can accommodate wire gauges up to 10 AWG, and the input panel accepts optional covers with NL4-type connectors or weatherized gland-nuts. For 70V/100V applications, the input panel includes an internal landing pad for mounting EV’s premium TK-150 audio transformer. By integrating the TK-150 with the EVC-1181S input panel, EV’s patented Automatic Saturation Compensation (ASC) is activated, ensuring stable low-frequency performance even when multiple subwoofers are connected in parallel, enabling efficient drivability from a single 70V/100V drive channel.
The input panel should provide a landing pad and appropriate electrical connections inside the loudspeaker cabinet for installer-friendly mounting and connection of a high-quality audio transformer, in series with the low-impedance loudspeaker dividing network. When installed, this network must be enhanced with a high-pass filter that features a current-dependent corner frequency to maintain full bass response and protect system amplifiers from load impedance drops typically caused by audio transformer saturation.
