LINKLOCK™ Protects Against Unauthorized Network Access
LINKLOCK™ is designed to identify and respond to any disconnection, reconnection, or tampering along the cabling between the Base unit and attached IP cameras or other PoE devices.
When is LINKLOCK Necessary?
For any externally mounted IP cameras, there is a potential risk of network exposure enabling attackers to gain access to the broader network infrastructure. LINKLOCK prevents such breaches by cutting off power and data channels upon detecting cable interference, such as tapping into coax or Ethernet lines.
Understanding LINKLOCK’s Functionality
LINKLOCK consistently monitors PoE power connections and data streams, detecting subtle changes or disruptions. This triggers an immediate disconnection and an alarm alert, designed to resist false positives. Reactivation of the channel is possible via reset pins post threat investigation.
HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base and LINKLOCK Integration
LINKLOCK™ is an optional feature in Veracity’s HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 and Base 8 Ethernet and PoE over coax adapters. These Base units can draw power from a PoE switch or DC supply, transmitting power to the camera unit, which then provides PoE to the connected IP camera. LINKLOCK Offers Comprehensive Protection
LINKLOCK safeguards both coaxial and Ethernet cables linking IP cameras to the HIGHWIRE Camera unit. Disconnection, disruption, or tampering with coaxial (section A) or Ethernet cables (section B) activates blocking mode, isolating external devices from the internal LAN. The internal HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base unit deactivates PoE to the coaxial cable, disables its network interface for the affected channel, and activates an alarm indicator via a closed relay contact and a red LED signal.
