Description
The DSA E2700 stands as the evolution of the DSA E-Series, offering a state-of-the-art iSCSI-based digital video disk array solution tailored by Bosch for the security industry’s most demanding digital video storage needs. With the surge of HD and the advent of UHD (4K) IP cameras and encoders in the surveillance landscape, the demand for high-bandwidth, streamlined storage infrastructure becomes a critical challenge. The advanced DSA E2700 is engineered to address these challenges effectively.
**System Overview**
The DSA E2700 is constructed around a 2U controller unit comprising 12 internal 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS (Serial Attached SCSI), enterprise-grade HDDs (Nearline SAS). Available in both Simplex and Dual Simplex Controller configurations, it caters to high-capacity and extreme performance demands. Its versatile and high-performance architecture perfectly suits diverse video surveillance needs, offering optimal support for high-bandwidth and I/O-intensive workloads.
Expanding beyond basics, the DSA E2700 includes options for a standard 12-bay expansion unit featuring 12 x 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS enterprise HDDs (2U) and a high-density 60-bay expansion unit with 60 x 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS enterprise HDDs (4U). These configurations can be customized for a range of mid-to-enterprise environments.
Exemplifying reliability, the DSA E2700 offers fully redundant I/O paths, advanced protection features, and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities to ensure high levels of availability, integrity, and security.
**Functions**
The DSA E2700, co-branded with NetApp’s E2700 series, is a scalable network storage solution that underscores security, unparalleled “in-the-box” scalability, secure data protection, and simplified video data management. As a leader in the introduction of the iSCSI protocol, NetApp’s E2700 product line delivers an elite product for the video surveillance sector.
The DSA E2700 in both Simplex and Dual Simplex Controller configurations facilitates the connection of up to seven 12-bay expansion units (each with 12 HDDs) to a single or dual controller base unit (note: applicable only for 12-bay expansion units with two ESM modules). The Dual Simplex Controller configuration supports up to two 60-bay expansion units (60 HDDs each) connected to a dual controller base unit, although connecting a 60-bay unit to a single controller is not an option.
This comprehensive RAID-protected disk array offers RAID-5 for capacity-focused environments and RAID-6 for availability-critical environments, based on a robust hardware RAID implementation that ensures top-tier system performance. For systems employing multiple disk shelf expansion units, RAID-6 is highly advisable.
