Description
The DSA E2700 represents the cutting edge of the DSA E-Series, Bosch’s advanced iSCSI-based digital video disk arrays. As state-of-the-art platforms, they are meticulously crafted for the security industry’s most demanding digital video storage applications, addressing the relentless expansion of digital video data. With the proliferation of HD and UHD (4K) IP cameras and encoders in the surveillance landscape, the pressing need for high bandwidth and streamlined storage infrastructure poses significant challenges—challenges that the next-generation DSA E2700 adeptly meets.
**System Overview**
The DSA E2700 consists of a 2U controller unit housing 12 internal 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS (Serial Attached SCSI), enterprise-grade HDDs (Nearline SAS). This storage architecture offers a Simplex Controller configuration as standard, with an option for a Dual Simplex Controller setup, catering to high-capacity and extreme performance demands.
This high-performance storage system is engineered for robust flexibility, making it ideally suited to diverse video surveillance requirements. Its balanced performance is optimized for handling high bandwidth and I/O-intensive workloads.
The DSA E2700 provides a disk shelf option, featuring a standard 12-bay expansion unit with 12 x 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS enterprise HDDs (2U), as well as a high-density 60-bay expansion unit with 60 x 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS enterprise HDDs (4U). These enable custom configurations that can be tailored to fit any standard mid- to enterprise-level environments.
The DSA E2700 boasts fully redundant I/O paths, sophisticated protection features, and extensive diagnostic capabilities, ensuring high levels of availability, integrity, and security.
**Functions**
The DSA E2700 is part of the co-branded E2700 series from NetApp. This scale-up network storage solution offers unparalleled security, superior “in-the-box” scalability, reliable data protection, and simplified management for all your video data needs. As pioneers of the iSCSI protocol, NetApp delivers a premium product line tailored for the video surveillance market with the E2700 series.
In its Simplex/Dual Simplex Controller configurations, the DSA E2700 permits the connection of up to seven 12-bay expansion units (12 x HDDs per expansion shelf) to a single/dual controller base unit. Note: This configuration is applicable only for 12-bay expansion units with dual ESM modules.
The Dual Simplex Controller configuration supports the connection of up to two 60-bay expansion units (60 x HDDs per expansion shelf) to a dual controller base unit, though connection to a single controller unit is not supported.
This fully-featured RAID-protected disk array provides RAID-5 protection for capacity-oriented environments and RAID-6 protection for availability-focused environments. Its RAID protection leverages a hardware RAID implementation to maximize system performance, with RAID-6 highly recommended for setups utilizing a larger number of disk shelf expansion units.
