Description
The DSA E2800 represents the cutting-edge evolution of the DSA E-Series, an array of iSCSI-based digital video storage systems crafted by Bosch. These state-of-the-art platforms empower the security industry to tackle the most demanding digital video storage challenges, efficiently managing the ever-expanding volumes of video data.
System Overview
The DSA E2800 is built on a 2U controller chassis equipped with 12 internal 3.5″, 7.2K, NL-SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) enterprise-grade hard drives. It offers both single and dual-controller configurations to meet high availability needs.
This high-performance network storage solution is designed with unparalleled flexibility, making it an ideal fit for diverse video surveillance demands. It provides balanced performance for high bandwidth and intensive input/output workloads. The DSA E2800 features fully redundant I/O paths, advanced data protection, and extensive diagnostic capabilities to ensure high availability, integrity, and security.
As part of the NetApp E2800 series, this scalable storage solution offers superior in-box scalability, comprehensive data protection, and simplified management for all video data requirements. The DSA E2800, in single or dual-controller configuration, can connect up to seven 12-bay expansion units, with 12 hard drives per expansion shelf, delivering robust scalability.
The system is a feature-rich hardware RAID/DDP protected disk array, providing RAID-5 configurations for capacity-focused environments and RAID-6/DDP setups for environments prioritizing availability.
High Reliability and Availability
The DSA E2800 ensures data safety and availability through redundant hot-swappable power supplies and fans. It guards against double-disk failures and single-bit errors during rebuilds with high-performance RAID-6 or DDP. Its redundant components, automatic path failover, and online administration support round-the-clock productivity.
Key high-availability features include:
- Automatic drive failover, detection, and rebuild using global hot spare drives
- A data cache backed by battery and featuring de-stage to flash
- SANtricity proactive drive health monitoring to preemptively identify problematic drives
Monitoring
Comprehensive SNMP support includes MIB-II and custom NetApp MIBs. In case of component failures, SNMP and email alert notifications are generated. An event monitor enables alert notifications to be sent to a central event log. Additionally, the system can send Auto Support messages over the Internet/Intranet to proactively prevent potential issues.
