Description
The ANSI standard MS1850SN Series Deadlock is engineered with a laminated stainless steel bolt, while the MS1850SN-45X Series Deadlock is equipped with a stainless steel hookbolt. Both deadlocks utilize a pivot mechanism to enhance security for both hollow metal and wood doors.
**Functionality:**
Designed for hollow metal or wood doors that conform to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications, the MS1850SN Series Deadlock offers superior security and easy installation. Featuring a standard 1-1/2” (38.1 mm) backset, this deadlock provides ample clearance for doors with a deep stop on their frames, making it ideal for hollow metal entrance systems.
The MS1850SN-45X Series Deadlock delivers maximum security and installation simplicity for sliding hollow metal or wood doors. Its standard 1-1/2” (38.1 mm) backset accommodates the deep frame pockets common in many commercial and industrial entrances. This model features a hook-shaped bolt designed to withstand the sliding separation forces between the door and frame, while maintaining the extensively utilized MS locking action. Its over-center locking mechanism ensures that attempts at forced entry—whether from lifting, pushing, or pulling—are thwarted. This deadlock is also effective for swing doors installed against shallow jambs where the MS1850SN Series deadlock’s 1-3/8” (34.9 mm) bolt throw is not feasible.
**Operation:**
A 360° turn of the key or thumbturn engages or retracts the counterbalanced bolt. The key can only be removed when the bolt is securely locked or unlocked. This deadlock accepts standard 1″ (25.4 mm) length, 1-5/32″ (29.4 mm) diameter mortise cylinders with an MS cam, such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder, or thumbturns such as the 4066 Thumbturn, both available separately. Cylinders can be installed from one or both sides.
