Description
The Honeywell SK-FML (Fiber-Optic Multi-Mode) and SK-FSL (Fiber-Optic Single-Mode) modules are designed for integration within fiber-optic loop networks. Serving as a single channel for communication, these modules operate with the Honeywell Silent Knight SK-NIC (Network Interface Card) ARCNET communication circuit.
The SK-FML module facilitates connections between network nodes using multimode fiber, featuring ST-style connectors and a maximum attenuation of 8db with a 62.5/125 micrometer cable. In contrast, the SK-FSL module supports single-mode fiber connections with LC-style connectors, accommodating a maximum attenuation of 30db for a 9/125 micrometer cable.
Each module supports transmitting (TX) and receiving (RX) fiber-optic signals to and from the SK-NIC, with a capacity for up to two fiber loop cards on a single SK-NIC. Both fiber loop modules can coexist within the same system configuration and comply with ANSI/UL Standard 864, 9th Edition.
Utilizing these fiber modules alongside the SK-NIC enables the establishment of a unified communications and annunciation network linking up to 17 panels over a fiber-optic infrastructure. A selected panel functions as the central communicator, facilitating streamlined single-point management. This network can also be implemented using copper wiring.
Compatible fire alarm control panels include models from the Silent Knight 6000 Series, such as the 6820 and 6820EVS, which support up to 1,110 addressable points through the SK Protocol. Additional Signaling Line Circuits (SLCs) can be introduced to expand system capacity to maximum point thresholds.
The network’s functionality can be further optimized by integrating modules like the 6860 remote annunciator, featuring a 160-character, 4 x 40 display and four programmable function buttons to automate operations and decrease panel interaction time.
