Description
The Bosch DSA E2700 represents the latest advancement in the DSA E-Series, an iSCSI-based digital video disk array specifically crafted for the security industry. This innovative platform serves the most demanding digital video storage needs, managing the rapidly increasing volume of video data. With the proliferation of HD and UHD (4K) IP cameras and encoders, addressing high bandwidth requirements and simplifying storage infrastructure is crucial—enter the next-generation DSA E2700.
**System Overview**
The DSA E2700 combines a 2U controller unit with twelve 3.5″ 7.2K NL-SAS enterprise hard drives, utilizing Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology. It is available in a standard Simplex Controller configuration or a Dual Simplex Controller configuration to meet high-capacity and extreme performance demands.
This high-performance storage solution is engineered for versatility, making it ideal for various video surveillance applications. It is optimized for high bandwidth and I/O intensive workloads, providing balanced performance. The DSA E2700 supports customizable configurations with two disk shelf options: a 12-bay expansion unit (12 x 3.5″ 7.2K NL-SAS enterprise HDD in a 2U design) and a high-density 60-bay expansion unit (60 x 3.5″ 7.2K NL-SAS enterprise HDD in a 4U design), suitable for mid- to enterprise-level environments.
Fully redundant I/O paths, advanced protection features, and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities ensure high levels of availability, integrity, and security.
**Functions**
As a part of the NetApp E2700 series, the DSA E2700 is a scale-up network storage solution offering exceptional in-the-box scalability, robust data protection, and streamlined video data management. NetApp has long been at the forefront of the iSCSI protocol, and its E2700 product line is a high-end solution tailored for the video surveillance market.
The DSA E2700, in its Simplex/Dual Simplex Controller configurations, can connect up to seven 12-bay expansion units per controller unit. Note that this is applicable only for 12-bay expansion units equipped with two ESM modules. For dual controller units, up to two 60-bay expansion units can be connected, whereas a single controller cannot connect to the 60-bay unit.
Offering comprehensive RAID protection, the DSA E2700 features RAID-5 for capacity-focused environments and RAID-6 for environments prioritizing availability. This hardware-based RAID implementation ensures the highest system performance, with RAID-6 being strongly recommended for systems using multiple disk shelf expansions.
